ONCE UPON A TIME
I had, in hand, a journalism degree, a graphic design degree, and a masters degree in brand identity, and no idea what to do with them.
Fresh from my masters studies in London (sigh, I do miss fresh school supplies) and my first two years designing books at some of my favorite publishing houses in New York, I found myself kicking off in a new niche: art directing magazines. Over the next 5 years, I learned from the creative professionals around me—from stylists to editors and everyone in between. These were some of the most fun and educational years of my life. Still, eventually, my niche felt too narrow, and, with a return to my love of branding, I entered the nonprofit world as a marketing, copywriting, and design manager.

Katie is the founder of Sugar Cream Creative. Her collection of paper samples, dried-up pens, and cooking gadgets is bordering absurd. She hopes to be known for an enjoyable, expert-level, super personal, and genuine creative partnership experience.

a photo editor, a brand designer, a photo shoot stylist, a watercolor illustrator, a marketing professional, and a magazine art director have in common? A: Me.
Whew—it took me just over a decade to craft this resume. Where it lacks in its brevity, it exceeds in producing one well-rounded creative partner. I have always dreamed I would run my own studio and, after having learned from and alongside some of the best, I can't wait to bring your creative dreams to life as well.
